Description

Stellar example of a textbook m38 field cap as worn by Enlisted Men and NCO’s. The outside shows virtually no fading from being in the element/sun, with only light wear on the inside lining. This cap is produced in early period high quality wool, the font of the cap has the original sewn insignia consisting of a green cockard, dark green piping with the underlining material faintly popping through, this indicates service in the Army Administration (Heeresverwaltung), and a hand stitched national eagle. All the insignia on this cap is as it was the day it left the factory. The inside shows the manufactures stamp, as well as the size marking of “55” and the year of manufacturing, 1940.

Untouched factory made German headgear falls in the same category as uniforms, to find anything that has the original sewn insignia and is considered untouched is very hard to find on the open market!
