This is an amazing example of the variation “3.51” Kriegsmarine Minesweeper Badge as produced by Adolf Scholez. With textbook design and hardware, this badge is not marked on the reverse but the overall design let’s us know the manufacture of Adolf Scholze. When it comes to zinc badges from the Third Reich period, typically we find them lacking little to all finish. This example holds much of the remaining gold finish on the wreath, and almost all of the silver finish! Compared to the example used on page 397 of ‘The Kriegsmarine Awards’ reference book by Sascha Webber, this is textbook in every way. There is also the addition of the original recipients last name on the reverse of the wreath, this is a true period issued piece! There are no damage or repairs.
