Description

Pulled directly out of the woodwork in Germany recently is this incredible grouping to a member of Legion Condor. This set has also been identified to Oberleutnant Falk Willis who served in a He-111 bomb crew during the Spanish Civil War with Legion Condor from 1937-1939. He would earn the Spanish Cross in Silver during this conflict. After the war in Spain he would later serve in Stab/Kampf-Geschwader 4 “General Wever.” On March 21st, 1941 he would be one of the first few men awarded the Ehrenpokal der Luftwaffe (Honor Goblet of the Luftwaffe.) While serving with Division General Wever November 17th, 1942 he would earn the DKiG (German Cross in Gold) fighting on the Eastern Front bombing the Demyansk Pocket. Shortly after he was awarded the DKiG he would be killed in action while on a bombing mission over Kursk. A true combat veteran through, and through!

This Incredible grouping consists of…

  • The early Enlisted Droop Tail belt buckle set he used while still an NCO in Spain
  • A very rare Spanish made commemorative “Legion Condor” desk plaque
  • Willis’s  very rare original early 900 marked Spanish Cross in Silver by Godet in original case of issue (no damage or repairs)
  • Framed photograph of Willis and bomber he was on during the Spanish Civil War w/ dedication
  • Very rare original Honor Goblet award document w/ original Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring signature

I can not stress who incredibly rare this set is, all together it makes an amazing displayable piece for any serious collectors display. Very historically significant piece to a true combat veteran!

Note – The Condor Legion (Legion Condor) was a unit of military personnel from the air force and army of Nazi Germany, which served with the Nationalist faction during the Spanish Civil War. The Condor Legion developed methods of strategic bombing that were used widely during the Second World War. It compromised of some of the earliest crack combat troops the German Military had before the 2nd World War. Any items related to this group is very rare and very sought after.
