Description

Fantastic early SS-TV Officer cufftitle for a member of the regiment “Thüringen”. Produced in a ‘flatwire” woven method with black and metalic threads. This is one of the earliest examples as it has the black RZM tag. This cufftitle has clear sings of being worn during the period and removed from a uniform! This cufftitle was recently pulled directly from the family of the U.S. veteran, this was brought back by Captain Paul O. Peterson, 85th Reconnaissance Squadron, 5th Armored Division. I have attached a photo of Captain Peterson standing next to a knocked out German STUG, he’s on the far left. Just an amazing piece of early SS insignia that has never been in a collection until now with rock solid veteran history.

Note- The SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 3 Thüringen was formed in Buchenwald in 1937 from SS-Sturmbann Sachsen and SS-Sturmbann Elbe. Two sturmbanne of this units took part in the occupation of Sudetenland (Czechoslovakia) in October 1938. It was used for “police duties” during the invasion of Poland. These duties consisted of hunting down the remaining Polish soldiers, terrorizing the civilians and murdering political leaders, priests, intellectuals and Jews. Most of its men were used to create the Totenkopf-division and the remaining were used to form the SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 10.
