Rare Waffen-SS Collar Tab which according to the 1945 SS calendar (Soldatenfreund) was intended for a member within the 33rd Waffen-SS Grenadier Division ‘Charlemagne’ however no photographic evidence or other proof has been found. The design also matches the Danish national socialist insignia from the DNSDAP and the collar tab might very well have been intended for Danish SS volunteers, regardless of this the tab amongst the collectors scene is considered ‘Charlemagne’. Most likely these tabs were produced at the end of the war and stocked in the SS Warehouses in Dachau and never issued. The collar tab is embroidered in silver/grey thread on black wool. The collar tab has a nice light-brown colored ‘Buckram’ backing. This tab originates almost certainly from the SS clothing department at the Dachau KZ, when liberated in 1945 tons of unissued SS insignia was found and sent home by U.S. soldiers. This tab is in mint, unissued condition with no damage or staining. Extremely rare French/Danish SS volunteer collar tab in mint/unissued condition, rare piece of SS insignia to find here!
