Description

RARE early Allgemeine-SS Visor ‘Schirmmütze’ for EM/NCO ranks. Although not the earliest cap, this one dates to about 1934/35 and is most recognizable by shape and appearance with an early Totenkopf skull by Deschler made of Cupal, and an early NSDAP eagle made of Cupal, both match each other perfectly in patina and are defiantly the originals worn on this visor from the period. The cap has a great saddle shape and is textbook with no damage or flaws to the wool exterior. The inside shows the SS marked lining as well as the SS marked bill of the cap, this is not a tailor made example, this is a true early SS issued visor. Early SS Visors are highly sought after items and the “black caps” have particular appeal. The SS was established in 1925 and fell under the control of the SA, the duties of the SS were to be the protection of the party and Adolf Hitler and it gained independence from the SA in late 1930. With the Night of long knives the SS would become one of the largest and most notorious organizations in history under the leadership of Heinrich Himmler.
