Description
Here is something you almost never see, this is a scarce Kriegsmarine (Navy) white tropical overseas cap ‘Tropenbordmütze’ as worn by Enlisted Men and NCO’s. This example shows a white base with hand sewn yellow/blue embroidered Navy national emblem and cockade. The cap is very nice with no damage or repairs, the inside shows the original soldiers last name on a tag stitched inside with the size markings of “K 60.” This is one of the hardest caps to find in regards of KM Enlisted head gear, a first for me and a textbook untouched example at that! Rare cap here.
Note -The Kriegsmarine (Navy) originally used white uniforms and headgear as their tropical dress cap. The white overseas cap followed the same pattern as the navy blue overseas cap and it is believed it was introduced in mid-1939, for wear by Junior NCO’s and EM’s on a restricted basis. Further wear of the white cap was abolished by regulations on February 2nd, 1940.Due to clothing shortages, wear of the white cap was reinstated in 1942. Additional regulations stated specific times and areas where the white cap was permitted for wear.
