Description

Troops who were currently assigned to an airborne unit on “jump status” wore the respective oval for their regiment. Those soldiers who had completed jump school, but who were not in an airborne unit, wore no oval. This wartime made example was made for members of the 541st Paratrooper Infantry Regiment.

The 541st Parachute Infantry Regiment was an airborne infantry regiment of the United States Army, activated during World War II. While never destined to see combat the regiment was composed of highly trained and highly educated troopers. It was also utilized to send trained replacements overseas.
