Description
Amazing and very attractive Allgemeine SS-VT black service tunic to an early member of the 2nd Regiment “Germania.” The uniform is in great condition with light storage wear and no holes or damage. The uniform features the early bullion Germania cufftitle on the left sleeve with the early wool armband. The left pocket shows loops for one award and has a bronze grade SA sports badge. On the shoulder we see the period attached black and silver shoulder strap. The collar shows and incredible set of sewn collar tabs, one of which is the bullion “2” marked rune tab as worn by the original SS-VT members in the Germania regiment. The inside shows clear signs of being worn with stains and worn spots, there is als the very rare original regimental stamps for 2nd Regiment “Germania” 5th Foot Company, this is very hard to encounter on any SS worn service tunic! Overall this is an incredibly rare, and highly sought after uniform set to one of the original members of this very well known regiment, the photos explain themselves, a remarkable uniform!
Note – SS-Verfügungstruppe (SS-VT) was formed in 1934 as combat troops for the Nazi Party (NSDAP). On 17 August 1938 Adolf Hitler decreed that the SS-VT was neither a part of the Ordnungspolizei (order police) nor the Wehrmacht, but military-trained men at the disposal of the Führer. In time of war, the SS-VT were to be placed at the disposal of the army. The SS-VT were involved in the German invasion of Poland in September 1939. By 1940 these military SS units had become the nucleus of the Waffen-SS.
