Japanese aviation items from the 2nd World War are always sought after, and they’re getting much harder to find on the open market. This example of a summer weight leather flight helmet as worn by Army pilots has a very nice look. With no repairs and the original national emblem (star) on the front, this helmet is textbook. The inside lining has lots of wear and staining, one ear cup has the size and acceptance markings as well as the pilots signature, the other ear cup has “property of Akron Costume Shop.” This helmet was purchased from this shop in the 1970’s by a fellow collector to use for a Halloween party. If this helmet could talk, I’m sure it’d have one great story to tell!
