Description

The “Bustina” field cap was originally introduced in 1933 and was worn by both Italian Army and Fascist militia personnel. Constructed of a grayish blue/green wool and artificial silk rayon interior. The fold down side panels with flaps are held over the top of cap by a metal snap. The fold down front visor is in the upright position when typically worn. To the front of the cap is a hand sewn padded flatwire Heer (Army) breast eagle. Typically we see photographs of configurations like this on uniforms/head gear worn by foreign volunteer troops from all countries, especially when those soldiers made the officer ranks. The Cap fully lined has a complete leather sweatband. The leather sweatband is heavily worn with sweat stains but still very flexible, otherwise this bustina does not have any damage or repairs. Foreign volunteer items have become very popular over the last few years, now with the power of the internet to further research, these items will keep climbing in value.
