Description

The M34 Heer (Army) breast eagle was introduced for wear on German Army uniforms on February 17th, 1934. It was a BeVo machine woven eagle executed in white thread on a light gray woven backing. These breast eagles were replaced in 1937, but appear frequently in wartime photos from the early campaigns. Originals are very scarce today, and are far less often encountered than the later 1938, 1939, 1940 and 1944 pattern eagles. This example is period sewn to the section of uniform still, it was “cut-off” when being liberated. This eagle shows serious fading from being in the elements of combat, the reverse shows some of the original tan lining from the uniform it was removed from. In regards to cut-off insignia, this is one of the earliest ones I have ever encountered. A true one looker untouched piece of insignia that displays fantastic!
